*We still have space available! North Elementary is proud & excited to announce a new Early Childhood program for the 2025-2026 school year- Young Fives! Young 5s promotes curiosity and creativity through instruction, engagement, & play. Who might be a good fit for Y5? Children turning 5 in late spring, summer, or fall often benefit from the gift of time before entering a full-day Kindergarten program the next year. (Y5 students will still experience traditional Kindergarten the following year.)

See the attached infographic to see all that our new program has to offer! Mrs. Trinklein will be teaching Y5 (developmental kindergarten) this year! She has a lot of great Early Childhood education training and experience to bring to this awesome program.

If you are interested in your child attending Y5, here is the process:
1. Go to www.birchrunschools.org>schools>North Elementary>Menu> Early Childhood
2. There are some forms to fill out: Kindergarten (&Y5) Enrollment (Google) Form. (If you have already signed up for Kindergarten at North- you've done this step already!)
3. Complete the Consideration for Young Fives (Google) Form.
4. If you live out of District, you need to download and complete the School of Choice (SOC) form and email it to us at jjones@birchrunschools.org. (If you have already done this for this child, you've done this step!)
5. Download the Kindergarten/Y5 Enrollment Packet and all the documentation with it. You can drop it off in the office on August 1st or email it to jjones@birchrunschools.org (Again, if you have already done this for this child for Kindergarten- you've done this step!)

Before we can add a child to a Y5 classroom roster or a K classroom roster, your child needs to be approved for SOC if you live out of District, we need all documentation and that packet returned to us.

Please share this post so your friends can learn about our new program, too!

Do you love the littles? Would you find joy daily working with them? We are in need of two preschool parapros for next year. These candidates would need to be willing to obtain a CDA or other schooling as described.

Mrs. Gabriel and Ms. Hoffman's classes planted several trees this week. A big thank you to Justin Marlette for all his help unloading the trees, moving the large sugar maple, and digging the holes for us. Also a big thank you to Abele Greenhouse for their help and genorsity. The teachers used grant funding for this project and Abele helped them out, too. This was part of a larger project based learning unit about Trees.
